Job summary

Confidential is seeking a Patient Care Director for the Emergency Department to provide overarching leadership of the ED nursing team, ensuring safe, high-quality, patient-centered care across the lifespan.

The role includes 24/7 operational and administrative oversight, staffing, patient throughput, and continuous improvement initiatives, with collaboration across physicians and hospital leadership to optimize flow and outcomes.

Qualifications

• BSN from an accredited nursing program.
• 3-5 years clinical and management experience preferred.
• Current RN license to practice in NJ; CPR, IV certification per hospital policy.
• ACLS completion.
• Working knowledge of emergency department operations and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Provide 24-hour operational leadership for the ED and ensure safe, high-quality patient care.
• Oversee daily ED operations including staffing, scheduling, patient flow, and throughput.
• Mentor and develop ED nursing staff and promote teamwork and professional growth.
• Promote evidence-based practice, patient safety, quality improvement, and regulatory compliance.
• Monitor quality, patient experience, and throughput metrics; implement improvement plans.
• Collaborate with physicians and hospital leadership to optimize patient flow and length of stay.
• Participate in disaster preparedness, drills, and regulatory readiness.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, staff, and leadership to resolve issues.
• Demonstrate fiscal stewardship through staffing and resource management.
