Job summary

University of Florida is seeking Emergency & Critical Care Veterinary Service Technicians to support board-certified criticalists. This role focuses on assisting specialists, ensuring high-quality patient care, and serving as the right hand to experts in a teaching hospital environment.

Two full-time opportunities follow a compressed four 10-hour shift schedule (Wed–Sat, 7am–5pm). The position offers growth toward CVT/VTS credentials and multiple professional development options.

Qualifications

• Veterinary Technician I: High school diploma or equivalent and one year relevant experience.
• Veterinary Technician II: Credentialed veterinary technician.

Responsibilities

• Attend service rounds at 7am to plan the day.
• Assist ECC specialists with examinations and procedures.
• Prepare and administer medications under veterinary guidance.
• Perform patient discharges and client follow-ups; relay results and care instructions.
• Handle medical charges and documentation.
• Teach and mentor veterinary students during clinical rotations.
• Implement and maintain ECC policies; ensure safety and quality.
