MedVet Wilmette is opening a state-of-the-art 24/7 emergency veterinary hospital just outside Chicago in Wilmette, IL. We seek an Emergency Credentialed Veterinary Technician to join a fast-paced ER team, handling rounds, triage, treatments and client education while supporting the DVM and care team.

The role offers overnights, strong benefits, and opportunities to contribute to advanced veterinary care in a growing network of MedVet facilities.

Qualifications

• State Registered Veterinary Technician license preferred.
• Prior veterinary experience required; emergency experience desired.
• Proficient in calculations (drugs, CRIs, unit conversions).
• Flexibility with work hours; able to work additional hours when necessary.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather information.
• Evaluate incoming patients and prioritize based on assessment.
• Partner with patient care team on treatment plans and nursing care.
• Provide client education on home care, medications and wellness updates.
• Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures.
• Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients.
• Induce and monitor general anesthesia and sedation procedures.
• Perform in-house and prepare samples for outside lab testing.

We are looking for:

Emergency Credentialed Veterinary Technician. Proposed Hours: Overnights. Initial Hiring Range: $26-$42 based on skillset and experience. Never a dull moment in the ER! What you’ll do:

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather additional information as necessary
• Evaluating incoming patients and prioritizing based on assessment
• Partner with patient care team regarding treatment plans, client communication and nursing care concerns
• Provide client education including, but not limited to: home care instructions, medications (indications, adverse reactions) and general wellness updates on hospitalized patients
• Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures
• Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients
• Induce and monitor general anesthesia and sedation procedures
• Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratory testing

Who you are:

• State Registered Veterinary Technician license preferred
• Prior veterinary experience required, previous emergency experience desired
• Proficient in calculations (drugs, constant rate infusions, unit conversions, etc.)
• Flexibility with work hours and able to work additional hours when necessary
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
