MedVet Wilmette, a state-of-the-art 24/7 emergency veterinary hospital outside Chicago, is seeking an Emergency Veterinary Technician. Join a collaborative clinical team and help provide the highest quality care to our patients and clients.

The role involves rounds, triage, anesthesia induction, in-house lab work, client education, and close partnership with the DVM. Prior veterinary experience required; strong math skills and flexibility with hours are essential.

Qualifications

• State Registered Veterinary Technician license preferred.
• Prior veterinary experience required; emergency experience preferred.
• Proficient in calculations (drugs, CRIs, unit conversions).
• Flexibility with work hours and able to work additional hours when necessary.

Responsibilities

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather additional information as necessary.
• Evaluating incoming patients and prioritizing based on assessment.
• Partner with patient care team regarding treatment plans, client communication and nursing care concerns.
• Provide client education including, but not limited to: home care instructions, medications (indications, adverse reactions) and general wellness updates on hospitalized patients.
• Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures.
• Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients.
• Induce and monitor general anesthesia and sedation procedures.
• Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratory testing.

We are looking for:

Emergency Veterinary Technician

Proposed Hours: Mid Shift

Initial Hiring Range: $24-$42 based on skillset and experience

What you'll do:

Who you are:

• State Registered Veterinary Technician license preferred

• Proficient in calculations (drugs, constant rate infusions, unit conversions, etc.)
• Flexibility with work hours and able to work additional hours when necessary
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
