Job summary

The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office seeks Civilian Dispatchers to answer emergency and non-emergency calls and dispatch police, fire and EMS. You will enter data into CAD and coordinate responses using LEADS/NCIC.

Applicants must be 18+, hold a high school diploma, demonstrate 50 WPM typing, and complete LEADS/NCIC training plus EMD within the first year. Shifts include 11:00 PM–7:00 AM, 7:00 AM–3:00 PM, and 3:00 PM–11:00 PM.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Typing speed 50 WPM with accuracy.
• Complete LEADS/NCIC training within first year and Emergency Medical Dispatcher (EMD).

Responsibilities

• Answer incoming telephone calls and determine if the call is an emergency.
• Enter information into CAD to ensure correct response.
• Dispatch police, fire and EMS using two-way radio and LEADS/NCIC systems.
• Obtain information from hearing or speech impaired callers.
• Maintain security in the communications center and manage radio traffic on non-primary channels.
