Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) in Portland is hiring a full-time Emergency Communications Dispatcher for the Public Safety Communications Center on Marquam Hill. The role supports emergency and nonemergency response across the campus, operating radios, CAD, CCTV and alarm systems.

Qualifications

  • At least one year of computer data entry and information‑retrieval experience or comparable experience.
  • Ability to pass the required background, medical and psychological evaluations.

Overview

Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) is hiring a full-time Emergency Communications Dispatcher for its Public Safety Communications Center on Marquam Hill in Portland. This AFSCME union-represented role supports emergency and nonemergency response across the OHSU campus.

Position Details

Pay: $38.08–$52.28 per hour

Employment: Regular full-time, 1.00 FTE

Schedule: Variable 24/7 coverage, including nights, weekends and holidays; mandatory overtime may be required

Location: Portland, Oregon – Marquam Hill

Primary Responsibilities
  • Receive emergency and nonemergency calls; dispatch police, public-safety and facilities resources; operate radio, telephone, CAD, CCTV and alarm systems; coordinate with 911, fire, EMS and other public-safety answering points; maintain accurate records; and provide calm, professional service during stressful situations.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED;

Certifications and Hiring Process

The selected employee must obtain DPSST Basic Telecommunicator certification within 18 months of hire and LEDS certification within the first six months. OHSU may administer a CritiCall 911 aptitude test during the interview process. Dispatch, radio, 911, CAD and alarm monitoring experience are preferred. Alarm monitoring is listed as preferred experience, not as a required certificate.
