Job summary

Public Safety Dispatch Network in Irvington, AL seeks a Police Dispatcher to receive and relay emergency and nonemergency requests, document locations, and assign calls to officers. You will monitor radio traffic, provide updates, and coordinate with neighboring agencies. A high school diploma is required; training is provided where needed.

You may work nights, weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts. Access to Records may require screening and security training; strong typing and clear radio

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required. Entry training may be provided.
• Ability to type accurately and understand spoken information.
• Willingness to work rotating shifts and learn jurisdiction geography.

Responsibilities

• Receive emergency and nonemergency requests for police assistance.
• Document incident locations, vehicle details, and reported hazards.
• Assign calls to officers according to priority and agency procedures.
• Monitor officer status, radio traffic, and requests for assistance.
• Relay updates about changing incidents and potential safety concerns.
• Conduct authorized records inquiries after training.
• Coordinate with neighboring agencies and other emergency services.
• Maintain clear incident records and safeguard restricted information.
