Job summary

City of Lompoc seeks a Police Dispatcher to provide critical communications for police, fire, and other municipal services. This Individual Contributor role handles radio and telephone requests, logs information, and relays data to field units.

Under general supervision, the dispatcher supports booking, maintains custody practices as needed, and assists in training. Typing at least 35 wpm and valid California driver license are required; examination processes may include tests.

Qualifications

• Typing 35 words per minute minimum.
• Certificate must be dated within the last 24 months.
• Ability to handle emergency communications with accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Receives incoming telephone and radio requests for emergency service.
• Logs critical information from the public and field personnel.
• Dispatches calls for service to patrol and other emergency units.
• Coordinates activities of police personnel and equipment during routine and emergency situations.
• May assist in booking and custody of prisoners as required.
