Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work/Social Welfare or related field with required behavioral science courses.
• Must have or be eligible for LSW licensure through Maine State Board.
• LSW-Conditional requires related BA/BS background.
• Detail oriented and able to meet deadlines.
• Frequent overtime, emergency standby coverage, and regular travel required.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Currently not eligible for visa sponsorship or STEM OPT extensions.

Responsibilities

• Perform professional social work in child protection, children’s services, and adoption.
• Engage families to assess child safety and develop plans addressing safety, well‑being, and permanency.
• Create family teams involving relatives, staff, and community resources to support safe solutions.
• Make timely, factually supported safety decisions with input from families and community stakeholders.
• Assess child safety, abuse, neglect, danger signs, family strengths, capabilities, and functioning.
• Seperate dangerous caregivers from children when court action is required.
• Plan for child safety, family preservation, reunification, or permanent placement.
• Maintain accurate case records, assessments, activities, plans, summaries, reports, letters, and memos.
• Follow federal and state laws, mandates, policies, and timeframes.
• Perform case planning and petition for protective custody and placement when needed.
• Provide professional case management services for clients throughout Maine.
