Job summary

UNC Health Care’s Clinical Decision Unit (CDU) in the Emergency Department is hiring a part-time Clinical Nurse for an 8-bed unit. The CDU handles short-term care with an average 16-hour stay and ~80% discharge rate, from admission through discharge.

You will perform focused nursing assessments, implement care plans, and collaborate with the medical team using evidence-based protocols. This role emphasizes ED and acute care skill-building in a structured setting.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a Board of Nursing approved nursing education program.
• Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide focused, short-term patient care from admission to discharge.
• Complete assessments, interventions, and evaluations.
• Collaborate with providers using evidence-based protocols.
• Strengthen your ED, acute care, and critical thinking skills.
• Participate in planning and discharge needs of patients and families.
• Communicate and coordinate with interdisciplinary team for optimal care.
