Job summary

UNC Health in Raleigh, NC is seeking a Clinical Nurse to join the 8-bed Clinical Decision Unit (CDU) in the Emergency Department. This part-time role offers 24 hours per week with 12-hour shifts and rotating holidays, providing meaningful care from admission to discharge in a fast-paced, structured environment.

Qualifications

• RN licensure in NC and BLS certification required.
• Graduate of a Board of Nursing approved nursing education program.
• 1 year of nursing experience required; ED/acute care preferred.

Responsibilities

• Education - identify learning needs and participate in education programs; use patient education materials.
• Evaluation of Care - identify outcomes and revise plans with the team; ensure continuity of care.
• Implementation - provide care for complex patients; coordinate with resources and prioritize tasks.
• Leadership - support goals, promote collaboration, and contribute to unit performance improvement.
• Patient Assessment - synthesize data and plan care addressing education and safety needs.
• Planning - collaborate with patient/family to update the plan of care; use multidisciplinary resources.
• Research - stay informed by journals and discuss applicable ideas with the team.
