Job summary

ChristianaCare Health System in Delaware seeks an Emergency Care Technician to support patients in the Emergency Department. Under nursing supervision, you will perform hygiene and comfort measures, selected nursing and phlebotomy tasks, obtain vital signs, and assist with EKGs.

Qualifications include a high school diploma and completion of PCT or Phlebotomist programs, with BLS certification. This full-time role includes weekend/holiday rotations and competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Completion of Patient Care Technician and/or Phlebotomist programs.

Responsibilities

• Performs assigned nursing procedures that pertain to the comfort and well-being of patients.
• Responds to patient crisis situations and initiates interventions within the scope of responsibilities and notifies RN.
• Performs venipuncture and finger sticks on patients, following all standard laboratory safety policies.
• Performs essential unit specific tasks under the direction of RN, e.g. EKGs, height and weight measurements.
• Reviews orders placed for patient testing and sends lab specimens using PowerChart system.
