Job summary

Nicklaus Children’s Hospital in Florida is seeking an EMT/BHT for Emergency Services (Full Time, Evenings). The role supports patient care under the RN, and conducts one-to-one interactions with behavioral health patients to aid their needs while helping with clinical and clerical tasks, room upkeep, and equipment maintenance.

Responsibilities include taking vitals, collecting specimens, performing EKGs, CPR, ventillation assistance, and monitoring; documenting in the EMR; transporting patients;

Qualifications

• EMT-Basic certification active and in good standing
• CPR/BLS current
• CPI training within 45 days of hire
• PALS certification within 2 years of hire
• Level II background check
• Orientation plus 12 hours in-service within 1 year
• EVOC within 30 days of hire
• Driver’s License Class E within 30 days of hire

Responsibilities

• Assist RN with patient care including vitals, specimen collection, and EKGs
• Assist with ventilation, CPR, and monitoring setup
• Conduct walking rounds for bedside handoff and continuity of care
• Prepare specimens per hospital guidelines and ensure proper handoff
• Coordinate with RN/LPN to prioritize patient needs
• Prepare discharge paperwork and school notes for patients/families
• Document in EMR and maintain confidentiality
• Provide de-escalation techniques and CPI as needed
