Job summary

Miami Children’s Hospital in Miami, FL seeks an EMT/BHT for Emergency Services (Full Time, Days) to support patient care under RN supervision. Responsibilities include vitals, specimen handling, EKGs, and documentation in EMR with patient transport as needed.

Qualified candidates hold EMT certification, CPR BLS, CPI training, and PALS within the specified timelines; EVOC and Driver's License are required for operation and transport duties.

Qualifications

• Active EMT license in good standing
• Current CPR BLS certification
• CPI training completed within 45 days of hire
• PALS within 2 years of hire
• Background check required (Level II)
• EVOC within 30 days of hire
• Driver's license class E on hire

Responsibilities

• Take vitals and collect/deliver specimens to the lab
• Perform EKGs and assist in procedures under RN supervision
• Conduct walking rounds with RN/LPN for bedside handoff and continuity of care
• Prepare specimens and ensure proper handoff per guidelines
• Check and assemble supplies, linens, and equipment for assigned areas
• Document in EMR and communicate patient changes to RN
• Provide patient transport within the hospital for procedures/admissions
• Maintain safety through CPI and Time Out processes
• Complete documentation including patient teaching and 15-minute observations
