Job summary

Tides Mental Health in Chicago, IL seeks a talented EMDR Therapist to deliver trauma‑informed care using EMDR as a core modality, alongside other evidence‑based approaches, with clients navigating trauma, anxiety, and grief, in person or via telehealth.

Licensed in Illinois (LCSW, LCPC, LMFT, or psychologist) with EMDR Basic Training is required; EMDRIA certification or progress toward certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• Licensed to practice in Illinois in one of the listed licenses.
• Completed EMDR Basic Training through an EMDRIA-approved program.
• EMDRIA Certification or progress toward certification preferred.
• Experience treating trauma, PTSD, and complex trauma presentations.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide EMDR-based psychotherapy and other evidence-based approaches.
• Assess EMDR readiness through history-taking, stabilization, and resourcing.
• Deliver EMDR per eight-phase protocol, in person and via telehealth.

Job Description:

We are seeking a talented and motivated EMDR Therapist who is passionate about delivering top-tier, trauma-informed care and is ready to grow with us. In this role, you’ll provide EMDR alongside other evidence-based approaches to clients navigating trauma, anxiety, grief, and related concerns, and help build Tides’ trauma-focused services.

Responsibilities:

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based psychotherapy, using EMDR as a core modality and integrating other approaches as clinically appropriate.
• Conduct thorough assessments to determine EMDR readiness, including history-taking, stabilization, and resourcing before reprocessing.
• Deliver EMDR with fidelity to the standard eight-phase protocol, in person and via telehealth.
• Work collaboratively with clients, their families, and other healthcare providers to coordinate and optimize care.
• Contribute to the development of Tides’ trauma-focused services, including internal referral pathways and best practices for EMDR care.
• Actively participate in the cultivation of Tides’ culture, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
• Assist in ad-hoc marketing efforts to build a diverse and strong client base, including outreach to referral sources seeking EMDR providers.
• Report directly to the Clinical Director, contributing to Tides’ strategic growth and vision.

Qualifications:

• Licensed to practice in the state of Illinois (LCSW, LCPC, LMFT, or Licensed Clinical Psychologist).
• Completed EMDR Basic Training through an EMDRIA-approved program (required).
• EMDRIA Certification or progress toward certification preferred.
• Experience treating trauma, PTSD, and complex trauma presentations.
• Demonstrated proficiency in additional therapeutic modalities.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
