Job description

A leading testing and engineering services organization is seeking an EMC Test Technician to support Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) testing of electronic and electrical products.

The role focuses on evaluating electromagnetic interference (EMI) and electromagnetic susceptibility (EMS) through the setup and operation of laboratory testing equipment, preparation of test samples, execution of standardized tests, and accurate documentation of results.

What You’ll Do
Safety
  • Contribute to a safe and healthy laboratory environment by following established safety procedures, policies, and quality requirements.
  • Take responsibility for maintaining safe working practices throughout testing activities.
Test Setup & Preparation
  • Set up and calibrate EMC testing equipment according to established test specifications and procedures.
  • Prepare, configure, and install test samples within appropriate test environments.
  • Verify that testing equipment is functioning correctly and properly maintained.
  • Assist with laboratory setup, equipment preparation, and sample handling.
Conducting EMC Tests
  • Perform EMC testing in accordance with defined procedures and applicable standards, including CISPR, EN, FCC, and other relevant requirements.
  • Operate EMC test equipment and instrumentation during testing.
  • Monitor, document, and record test results accurately.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and escalation issues encountered during testing.
  • Follow established laboratory procedures to ensure testing is performed consistently and accurately.
Data Analysis & Reporting
  • Review and analyze test data to determine product compliance with applicable EMC requirements.
  • Prepare accurate test documentation and reports summarizing test results and findings.
  • Communicate test results and potential EMC issues to engineering teams and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate records of testing activities, equipment, and results.
Compliance & Standards
  • Ensure testing activities are conducted in accordance with applicable national and international EMC standards.
  • Maintain current knowledge of EMC standards, test methods, instrumentation, and relevant technologies through internal training, external seminars, technical publications, and other learning opportunities.
  • Assist with maintaining laboratory quality systems, procedures, and technical documentation.
  • Work with design and engineering teams to identify and troubleshoot EMC-related issues.
  • Assist with developing and implementing test plans and procedures.
  • Provide technical support during product development, testing, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Collaborate with laboratory and engineering personnel to ensure projects are completed accurately and on schedule.
  • Support multiple projects at different stages of the testing process.
What You’ll Bring
  • Associate degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related technical field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Understanding of EMC/EMI principles, testing methodologies, and applicable standards.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply test standards to different types of electronic products.
  • Experience using or familiarity with EMC testing equipment, such as spectrum analyzers, signal generators, antennas, and anechoic chambers.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as email and internet applications.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise testing procedures.
  • Strong analytical and logical problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues during laboratory testing.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at different stages simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, verbal, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a diverse and multicultural team.

Travel Considerations
