Job summary

A global staffing company in California is seeking an experienced EMC Test Engineer to perform compliance testing on electronic assemblies and provide debugging support. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and at least 5 years of experience in EMC testing across various industries, including consumer electronics and automotive. Qualifications

  • Familiarity with international EMC regulations and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Execute compliance EMC testing on PCBAs and full systems.
  • Write and maintain Python scripts for device monitoring.
  • Debug and troubleshoot EMC issues.
  • Debug and troubleshoot EMC/EMI issues and investigate root causes of non-conformances.
  • Review and tailor EMI/EMC requirements to meet product specifications.
  • Create test reports, procedures, control plans, and guidelines to support validation and compliance.
  • Perform cost-reduction EMC evaluations and second-source component testing.
  • Collaborate with engineering and product teams to ensure quality standards are met.

Overview

EMC Test Engineer We are seeking an experienced EMC Test Engineer to support product development through electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing and compliance. This role will focus on executing tests at the board, sub-assembly, and system level while supporting debugging and process improvement efforts across cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities
  • Execute compliance EMC testing on PCBAs, sub-assemblies, and full systems, including radiated/conducted emissions and immunity
  • Perform ESD and transient compliance testing on electronic assemblies
  • Write and maintain Python scripts for device monitoring in a Linux environment
  • Debug and troubleshoot EMC/EMI issues and investigate root causes of non-conformances
  • Review and tailor EMI/EMC requirements to meet product specifications
  • Create test reports, procedures, control plans, and guidelines to support validation and compliance
  • Perform cost-reduction EMC evaluations and second-source component testing
  • Maintain EMC lab equipment and manage calibration schedules
  • Collaborate with engineering and product teams to ensure quality standards are met
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • 5+ years of EMC testing experience in consumer electronics, medical devices, automotive, or aerospace industries
  • Proficiency in Python programming
  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience with EMC compliance testing methodologies
  • Experience using the Linux terminal to run commands, compile code, and execute programs
Pluses
  • Familiarity with international EMC regulations and standards (e.g., CISPR, IEC/EN, ETSI, ISO, FCC)
  • Deep understanding of emissions, immunity, ESD, and automotive transients and mitigation techniques
  • Skilled in EMC debug techniques and accurately performing emissions/immunity testing
