Impulse Space is seeking an EMC Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 in Redondo Beach, CA. You will support EMC workflows alongside RF, Avionics, Mechanical and Software teams, contributing to testing, troubleshooting and reporting on electromagnetic performance of spacecraft components.

This 12-week internship runs May/June to August/September 2027, with on-site work and overtime eligibility. Compensation is $32.00 per hour, and interns gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced aerospace

Qualifications

  • Enrollment in a bachelor’s or master’s program in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related field.
  • Fundamental EM and circuit theory knowledge.
  • Hands-on lab experience with RF test equipment.
  • Ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to optimization of in-house EMC automation.
  • Drive semi-anechoic chamber bringup and inter-chamber repeatability.
  • Conduct analysis and simulation of spacecraft components and systems for radiated emissions, surface charging, and performance in radiation.
  • Conduct component and system level EMC testing per MIL-STD 461 & MIL-STD-464.
  • Drive test plans, test reports, and troubleshooting efforts with diverse engineering groups across multiple satellite designs.
  • Operate and integrate common EMC lab equipment including spectrum analyzers, signal generators, RF amplifiers, scopes.
