At Teradyne, our engineers thrive in a fast‑paced, customer‑focused culture where teamwork, technical excellence, and continuous improvement drive success.

Teradyne is seeking an EMC Design & Test Engineer with a strong emphasis on design‑for‑EMC. This role focuses primarily on integrating EMC principles into product architecture, schematics, and layout, while also supporting targeted EMC testing activities for system‑level validation. You will collaborate closely with global engineering teams to ensure products meet regulatory EMC requirements throughout the development lifecycle.

  • Design for EMC Compliance: Apply EMC principles during the design phase to ensure products meet regulatory and industry standards, including IEC 61326‑1, CISPR 11/EN55011, FCC, and IEC 61000‑4‑x.
  • Testing and Validation: Develop EMC design requirements, participate in EMC design reviews, and identify risks early in the development cycle. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure designs comply with global EMC regulations and standards, preparing detailed test reports and documentation for regulatory submissions.
  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Work closely with hardware, software, and mechanical engineering teams to identify and mitigate EMC risks during the design process.
  • Troubleshooting and Problem‑Solving: Identify and resolve EMC issues in prototypes and production units, including root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Simulation and Modeling: Use simulation tools (e.g., EMC Charge Plus or similar) to predict and mitigate EMC issues during the design phase.
  • Training and Mentorship: Provide guidance and training to junior engineers on EMC design principles and best practices.
  • Develop and execute EMC test plans for pre‑compliance and compliance testing, including EMI, ESD, radiated/conducted immunity, and other electromagnetic environmental effects.
  • Set up, operate, and maintain EMC test equipment such as EMI receivers, spectrum analyzers, VNAs, LISNs, DC/single‑phase/three‑phase power sources, amplifiers, and comb generators.
  • Interpret and perform EMC test methods including Radiated Emissions, Conducted Emissions, ESD, Radiated Immunity, EFT/Burst, Surge, Conducted Immunity, Magnetic Field Immunity, Voltage Dips/Interrupts, Harmonics, and Flicker.
  • Conduct EMC testing in shielded rooms and in‑situ environments based on system configuration and feasibility.
  • Support and maintain Teradyne product EMC certifications by performing required testing and maintaining technical documentation.
  • Interface with external labs and regulatory bodies as needed during compliance projects.
  • Prepare EMC test plans, test procedures, technical reports, and documentation for regulatory submissions.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and support required EMC lab upgrades.
  • Maintain a clean, well‑organized, and safe EMC laboratory environment.
