Job summary

Garmin Ltd. in the Greater Kansas City area is seeking a full-time EMC Engineer Intern to assist with the design and testing of avionics systems and perform EMC testing in specialized chambers.

You will work with cross-functional teams to support FAA certification efforts and learn how different aircraft components communicate in the cockpit. The role emphasizes learning EMC test standards, preparing test data, and supporting software automation and verification efforts, with opportunities to

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Electrical, Computer or Aerospace Engineering.
• GPA of 3.0 or higher is expected as a general guideline.
• Strong communication skills with good written and verbal abilities.
• Familiarity with RF equipment is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Learn how avionics systems are used in the cockpit and how components communicate.
• Assist with EMC testing processes and documentation for certification requirements.
• Study EMC test standards, create test plans, and perform certification testing.
• Help design and troubleshoot integrated avionics systems from simple to complex.
• Coordinate product testing reviews and address feedback.
• Support software automation and verification efforts.
• Assist with EMC testing activities including RF immunity and lightning tests.
• Follow procedures to verify compliance with regulations and quality guidelines.
• Prepare test data and reports to demonstrate design conformance.
