Job summary

Meta is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to design and optimize firmware for AR/VR and wearable devices. You will work on low-level systems software, drivers, and connectivity stacks (Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth, Android networking) with cross-functional teams to drive hardware/software integration and performance improvements.

Responsibilities span kernel, drivers, and application layers, including silicon integration, power/performance management, and image/sensing system firmware.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in CS/CE or related field.
• 7+ years software development experience in industry settings or PhD with 4+ years.
• 3+ years embedded software development experience in industry settings.
• Experience in large-scale C/C++ code base.
• Experience defining and driving technical work streams and providing leadership.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement software components at all layers of the system, including kernel and memory management.
• Develop drivers and services for constrained environments with low latency.
• Lead hardware bring up, peripheral drivers and silicon integration.
• Debug complex, multi-component issues spanning kernel to application.
• Profile performance and optimize across the software stack.
• Integrate components from partner teams into a unified code base.
• Develop firmware for devices including sensing, imaging, haptics, and audio prototypes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on connectivity features (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, cellular, UWB).
• Support QA, manufacturing, and other software teams.
