Job summary

James David Staffing is seeking a Test Systems Engineer (Embedded) to own end-of-line test systems in Troy, MI. You will design and build hardware-integrated test software in Python and Rust, interfacing with CAN, LIN, UART, and Ethernet to validate each unit before shipment.

You will work closely with the hardware team on board testing, schematic reviews, and circuit debugging, while writing production-quality code and lightweight tools used by technicians on the line.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on production software experience.
• Advanced Python proficiency required.
• C/C++ experience required.
• CAN/LIN/UART/Ethernet protocol experience.
• Ability to read schematics and perform basic circuit debugging.
• Rust a big plus.
• Vehicle Spy, Git/GitLab, and production test experience desirable.

Test Systems Engineer (Embedded) -- (NO C2C)

We’re hiring a Test Systems Engineer for a growing automotive and industrial technology company in Troy, MI. They build and ship their own hardware, and they need someone to own the test systems that verify every unit before it leaves the building.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll design and build end of line test systems in Python and Rust that talk to devices over CAN, LIN, UART, and Ethernet. You’ll write and support production quality code, mostly Python with some C/C++, and build simple tools the technicians on the line use every day. You’ll work with the hardware team to make sure new boards can be tested, including schematic reviews and circuit level debugging when a new design comes up for the first time. You’ll also build the backend that stores every test result, and keep the stations running when something breaks.

What We’re Looking For

• 3+ years of hands on production software experience (not just scripting)
• Advanced Python
• C/C++ experience
• CAN, LIN, UART, or Ethernet protocol experience
• Ability to read schematics and do basic circuit debugging
• Rust is a big plus
• Vehicle Spy, Git/GitLab, and manufacturing or production test experience are nice to have
