Job summary

Revel is seeking an Embedded Software Engineering Intern to work on systems software that connects the runtime to physical hardware. You’ll collaborate with experienced engineers across hardware and software, building foundational components and debugging at the hardware-software boundary.

You will gain hands-on experience with Rust, C/C++, Linux, and hardware interfaces, while contributing to reliable, real-time systems used in industrial environments.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as CS, CE, or Electrical Engineering.
• Rising Junior or Senior graduating in 2027 or 2028.
• Strong fundamentals in systems programming and debugging.

Responsibilities

• Write Rust code targeting Linux userspace.
• Support the integration of industrial hardware and learn hardware communication protocols.
• Contribute to Hardware Abstraction Layers (HALs) for interfacing with physical hardware.
• Develop software that communicates with sensors, actuators, controllers, and other hardware.
• Learn and use hardware debugging tools such as logic analyzers and oscilloscopes.
• Write tests and improve reliability of low-level software.
• Participate in code reviews and collaborate with hardware and software engineers.
• Debug issues across software, OS, interfaces, and hardware.
• Build understanding of reliability and correctness in real-world systems.
