W3Global is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead embedded systems efforts in Carbondale, IL or St. Louis, MO. The role blends hardware and software leadership with a hands-on approach and accountability for delivery in a hybrid setup.

You will manage a cross-functional team of eight, shape engineering processes, mentor engineers, and ensure alignment with global strategy while staying customer-focused and agile in a dynamic environment.

• Lead and manage a cross-functional engineering team of 8 (hardware & software) with accountability for delivery, quality, and team performance.
• Allocate team resources across projects based on skills, priorities, and timelines.
• Ensure high-quality technical execution, including reviews, verification, and adherence to engineering standards.
• Maintain a hands-on engineering contribution, including supporting design problem-solving, engineering circuit design, debugging, and providing technical guidance on complex challenges.
• Take ownership of project delivery outcomes, ensuring milestones are met on time and with minimal rework.
• Coach and develop team members, including performance management, hiring, onboarding, and continuous upskilling.
• Drive engineering excellence and continuous improvement in processes, tools, and ways of working.
• Establish strong documentation practices and promote effective knowledge sharing within and across teams.
• Support customer interactions and actively participate in customer-facing activities, including customer calls, acting as the escalation point for technical topics within your domain while supporting the preparation of solution recommendations and quotations.
• Contribute to aligning engineering practices with broader organizational practices, while preserving flexibility and responsiveness to customer needs.
