Job summary

SmartFlower Solar is offering an Embedded Systems Engineer internship on-site in Woburn, MA for Winter–Spring 2026. The role focuses on developing and deploying firmware for SmartFlower Solar systems, bridging hardware and software in a fast-paced, global environment.

You will work with a team on product design, testing, and field service, delivering firmware updates and validating new features while collaborating with contractors to ensure robust performance.

• Support firmware release processes, including documentation and OTA updates.

What you will do:

• Assist with engineering and service of Smartflower Solar systems


• Develop, test and deploy new firmware solutions to boost ease of use, product reliability, serviceability or performance.


• Partner with SmartFlower technical team members and external engineering contractors to develop, validate and release software or firmware solutions


• Validate new features prior to release. Monitor fleet performance to identify field issues early and own their containment and resolution


• Support continuous improvement efforts around the firmware release process including enhanced documentation, version control, release package build and OTA update management

Requirements

You...

• Are working towards a computer, electrical, robotics or equivalent engineering degree


• Are proficient programming in modern languages such as C / C++ and Python


• Can share a portfolio of previous work demonstrating experience with embedded systems


• Operate with a hands-on approach, are self-motivated, and love to work on hardware products


• Are able to work independently, manage time and prioritize your work


• Demonstrate independence, a self-starter attitude with strong communication skills
