Job summary

Actalent is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer in Burbank, IL to plan, design, and implement control software for Electron Beam Welding and Additive Manufacturing systems. The role involves development and testing, hardware-software integration, and frequent client-site visits for deployment and training.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of experience in software development and strong proficiency in C#, C++, LabVIEW, and Git, with knowledge of UNIX, VXWorks, and embedded systems.

Qualifications

• Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related Controls/Automation programming.
• At least 5 years of software development, programming design, and systems management.
• Proficiency in C#, C++, C, LabVIEW, and Visual Studio.
• Experience with hardware-software integration and TCP/IP, UDP, RS232.
• Experience with real-time system development and Git.

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate software requirements gathering, design, development, and implementation.
• Maintain, support, and upgrade existing systems and applications.
• Communicate effectively with team members and customers.
• Travel to client sites for installation, testing, debugging, start-up/commissioning, and training.
• Work with PLC and HMI programming and use Git for version control.
• Engage in development (70%) and testing (30%) activities.
