Second Order Effects is seeking an Embedded Engineer to design and implement high performance embedded systems across diverse projects. You will work with a collaborative team to develop firmware for microcontrollers and HDL for FPGAs, ensuring robust validation and end-to-end support.

The role emphasizes cross-project problem solving, customer interaction to define requirements, and rigorous documentation. On-site work is available in El Segundo or Redmond, with strong growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• 1+ years of applied engineering experience with a passion for technology.
• Strong written and verbal technical communication skills.
• Experience with C/C++ firmware development or Verilog HDL.

Responsibilities

• Own architecture, design, and development of embedded firmware for diverse applications.
• Interact with customers to define firmware requirements and ensure engagement.
• Develop firmware in C/C++ for microcontrollers, or HDL for FPGAs.
• Write and execute test plans for validation and performance characterization.
• Lead end-to-end design, development, testing, and technical support.
• Assess design risks and craft mitigation strategies.
• Create documentation for hardware, software and systems.
• Interface with teams and clients for design reviews.
