Job summary

ITW is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to design, develop, test, and support embedded software for existing and new products. The role involves hardware bring-up, low-level driver development, and cross-functional collaboration with engineering and manufacturing teams.

Qualifications include a BEng in a related field and at least 4 years in embedded software, with proficiency in C/C++, Git, and RTOS environments. Occasional travel to manufacturing sites is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Software, Electrical, Computer Engineering, or related discipline) required.
• Minimum 4 years of embedded software development experience.
• Proficiency in C/C++, Git, and RTOS environments (FreeRTOS, MQX).
• Strong hardware/software integration and system design understanding.
• Ability to work independently across design, coding, testing, and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Develop, code, test, and debug embedded software for customers and internal lines.
• Modify software per specifications with limited guidance.
• Apply engineering principles to create robust embedded solutions.
• Bring up software on new hardware platforms and verify MCUs, memory, clocks and interfaces.
• Develop and debug low-level drivers for UART, SPI, I2C, USB, Ethernet, GPIO, etc.
• Provide technical input to schedules, estimates, and cross-functional coordination.
• Document designs and analyses thoroughly.
• Conduct tests for reliability, performance, and safety.
