Job description

Midas Robotics builds tactile sensors that give robotic end-effectors a sense of touch. We're a three-person team in San Francisco. We raised a $2.2M pre-seed three months ago, and we're already shipping sensors to robotics companies.

About the role

We're looking for an Embedded Systems Engineer to own the firmware and software that turn our sensors into reliable, easy-to-use products. You'll work across the full stack, from bringing up new boards and writing sensor firmware to shipping the SDKs our customers build on. Success in this role means every sensor we ship gives clean, consistent readings out of the box, and customers can integrate it in minutes. As an early engineer, you'll shape the software architecture and tooling for our entire product line.

Responsibilities
  • Build, test and implement sensor-level firmware across the product line
  • Integrate with custom electronics and support the development cycle of new hardware iterations
  • Develop signal processing to reduce noise, improve measurement accuracy and deliver consistent sensor readings
  • Build, test and deploy customer-facing software development kits (SDKs) across the product line
  • Design and architect cross-compatible firmware and software systems
  • Design, architect and maintain an internal software tools system for testing, calibration and production
Qualifications
  • Experience developing and testing firmware for sensors and embedded devices
  • Comfortable bringing up custom electronics and troubleshooting hardware and software together
  • Experience with signal processing, sensor calibration and noise reduction
  • Experience building, documenting and releasing customer-facing SDKs
  • Ability to design maintainable software that works across products and operating systems
  • Experience building internal tools for testing, calibration and production
  • Strong debugging, version control and automated testing skills
  • Ability to collaborate closely with peer engineers throughout product development
