Job summary

Allient Inc. in Rochester, NY is seeking an Embedded Software Integration & Verification Engineer to join our team. The role focuses on developing, integrating, and verifying embedded software for motion control and industrial automation products.

You will plan and execute tests, automate verification, and collaborate across firmware, electrical, and product teams while owning deliverables from start to finish.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in CS, SWE, or related field.
• 3–5 years embedded software/firmware development or automated verification.
• Python and C/C++ for embedded dev or test automation.
• Experience writing test procedures and verifying results.
• Know build tools, logging, state machines, and fault handling.
• HW/SW integration with SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, Ethernet.
• Version control and standard engineering tools.
• U.S. person due to ITAR regulations.
• Motion control/industrial automation experience.
• Familiar with EtherCAT, CANopen, RTOS, embedded Linux.
• Experience with HIL/SIL, automated bench systems.
• Familiar with CI/CD pipelines or test frameworks (Azure/Jenkins/Robot).
• Exposure to MATLAB/Simulink, CODESYS, IEC 61131-3.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain embedded software, test tooling, and automation for product integration and verification.
• Develop and execute unit, integration, regression, and system tests; support hardware/software-in-the-loop testing.
• Implement test execution, data collection, pass/fail checks, and reporting; maintain traceability of requirements, tests, results.
• Integrate and debug embedded hardware, software, communications, sensors, actuators, and peripherals using bench tools.
• Investigate software, protocol, timing, and system issues; document findings and verify resolutions.
• Maintain version-controlled code, tests, and documentation; contribute to regression automation and pipelines.
• Collaborate with firmware, electrical, electromechanical, and product teams; propose improvements and tradeoffs.
• Own assigned deliverables from planning through completion; raise blockers promptly.
