Job summary

Actalent is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to design and develop embedded software for weapon control systems within a Battle Management System portfolio. You will work across multiple projects from MCU coding to GUI-based simulators, and support installation and assessment of embedded systems at local and external sites.

You will collaborate with about fifteen engineers on a large, complex program, contributing to mission-critical capabilities and working onsite at a Dahlgren, VA base.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer or electrical engineering or equivalent hands-on weapon system experience.
• 3+ years designing and engineering embedded software for weapon systems.
• Proficiency in C#, Java, or C++.
• Experience with GUI development and TCP/IP networking.

Responsibilities

• Design, code, and engineer embedded software solutions for weapon systems across multiple Battle Management System projects.
• Develop software for embedded microcontrollers with real-time requirements.
• Create simulators and interactive GUIs to support development, testing, and demonstrations.
• Debug and troubleshoot low-level hardware-software interfaces using oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
• Diagnose and resolve network configuration, connectivity, and data transmission issues.
• Write unit tests and validate hardware-software integration.
• Support installation, integration, and assessment of embedded systems at local and external sites.
• Work in a fast-paced, field-oriented environment delivering reliable products.
• Coordinate across concurrent projects with cross-functional teams.
• Utilize Git and modern dev tools for code quality and configuration control.
