Job summary

Platform Aerospace is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer III to design, develop, and test embedded software for advanced aircraft systems. You will collaborate with hardware and systems engineers to define requirements, implement code in C/C++/assembly, and ensure compliance with DO-178C standards.

You will contribute to device-level software, perform debugging and optimization, review code, and help maintain documentation, test plans, and best practices across the software team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/EE/Aerospace or related field with 5+ years in embedded software (aerospace preferred).
• Proficiency in C, C++, and assembly language.
• Experience with RTOS and embedded development tools.
• Knowledge of DO-178C and aerospace software standards.
• Strong problem-solving and teamwork; able to obtain security clearance.
• Git experience is preferred.

PRIMARY FUNCTION

We are seeking a talented and experienced Embedded Software Engineer to join our Software Engineering team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing embedded software for aircraft applications. This role requires a strong background in embedded systems and a passion for innovation in the aerospace industry.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design, develop, and test embedded software for aerospace systems and components.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers to define software requirements and ensure seamless integration.
• Develop and maintain software documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and user manuals.
• Perform software debugging, troubleshooting, and optimization to ensure high performance and reliability.
• Conduct code reviews and provide feedback to ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.
• Participate in system-level testing and validation to ensure compliance with aerospace industry standards and regulations.
• Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in embedded software development.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers, systems engineers, and project managers, to ensure successful project delivery.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance software development processes and tools.
• Perform other duties as necessary and/or required.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field, and 5+ years of experience in embedded software development, preferably in the aerospace industry.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, and assembly language.
• Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS) and embedded development tools.
• Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing, and maintenance.
• Knowledge of aerospace industry standards and regulations, such as DO-178C.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and debugging skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities.
• Ability to obtain a security clearance.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Advanced degree in a related field.
• Experience with version control systems, such as Git.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Occasional travel may be required to support testing and integration activities.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
