Job summary

SmallHD in Cary, NC is seeking an experienced embedded software engineer to develop and maintain software for video monitoring products. You will work in C for an embedded Linux environment and coordinate with Electronics and FPGA teams during design, test, and integration.

You will also lead code reviews, maintain existing C applications, and assist in hardware bring-up on ARM Cortex platforms, with opportunities to contribute to UI and image processing as relevant to camera workflows.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in computer science or computer engineering; Master’s preferred.
• 3+ years professional experience.
• Advanced proficiency with C programming.
• Advanced proficiency developing Linux applications.
• Advanced proficiency with common Version Control software.
• Familiarity with GNU Make, Python, Bash and Batch Scripting.
• Familiarity with I2C, SPI, UART, USB protocols.
• Familiarity with ARM Cortex processor cores.
• Familiarity with AI tools for software development.
• Proficiency with Linear Algebra preferred.
• Experience reading electronic schematics preferred.
• Experience reading and understanding VHDL preferred.
• Experience with UI Design a plus.
• Experience with basic Image Processing a plus.
• Experience with Videography a plus.

Responsibilities

• Developing and maintaining software for SmallHD’s video monitoring products in an embedded C environment.
• Coordinate with Electronic and FPGA engineering during design, test, and integration phases.
• Complete programming tasks in a Linux-driven embedded device and maintain existing C applications.
• Aide in custom hardware bring-up and develop ARM-based microcontroller software.
• Routinely lead code reviews with other team members.
