Job summary

Falcata seeks an Embedded Software Engineer to join the Huntsville, AL team. You will develop embedded Linux software for RF sensor products, participate in integration and testing, and work under senior engineers to implement robust, secure solutions.

The role emphasizes C/C++ development, scripting for automation, and collaboration across hardware, FPGA, and systems teams. U.S. citizenship and DoD clearance are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 0–2 years of professional software development experience; internships or co-ops count.
• Experience with C or C++ coursework or projects.
• Fundamental software development principles, data structures, algorithms, debugging, version control.
• Ability to read and understand technical docs, requirements, interfaces.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication; teamwork in multidisciplinary engineering.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain DoD Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Support design, development, integration, verification, and testing of embedded Linux software.
• Develop and maintain C/C++ software for embedded platforms.
• Assist with software interfaces for hardware devices, sensors, networking, protocols.
• Develop Python/Bash scripts to support testing, automation, data processing, workflows.
• Participate in software integration, system bring-up, debugging, and troubleshooting.
• Analyze defects and system issues; assist with corrective actions.
• Contribute to code reviews, design reviews, requirements analysis, planning.
• Maintain software documentation, test procedures, and development records.
• Execute unit and integration tests; use CI/CD processes.
