Job summary

Johnson Controls in New Freedom, PA seeks a Senior Software Test Engineer to lead testing of embedded systems and ensure reliability of Chiller products. Candidates should be able to relocate or commute to New Freedom, PA.

You will design test plans, build automation, and mentor teams while collaborating with software developers to improve testability and quality throughout the development cycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS, EE, or a related field.
• 2+ years in software development and testing.
• 1+ years in manual testing; automated testing preferred.
• Proficiency in C/C++, Python.
• Experience with embedded systems testing and hardware debugging.

Position:

Johnson Controls has a phenomenal opportunity for a Senior Software Test Engineer to join our dynamic in New Freedom, PA, to help ensure the reliability and performance of our cutting-edge Chiller products. Candidates must be commuting distance to New Freedom, PA, or able to relocate.

What You Will Do:

You will play a critical role in the development and testing of our exciting embedded software systems! You will have the opportunity to lead testing efforts, mentor, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that our products meet the highest standards of quality. How you will do it:

• Lead the development and execution of comprehensive test plans and test cases for embedded software.

• Design, implement, and maintain automated and manual test frameworks and scripts to enhance testing efficiency and coverage.

• Collaborate with software development teams to understand requirements and ensure testability.

• Conduct reviews of design and requirements to identify potential issues early in the development cycle.

• Analyze test results, report defects, and work closely with development teams to ensure timely resolution.

• Participate in root cause analysis and drive corrective actions for identified issues.

• Contribute to process improvements and the adoption of new testing tools and methodologies.

What we look for:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

• 2+ years of overall experience in software development and testing.

• 1+ years of hands‑on experience specifically in manual testing, preferably automated testing.

• Proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++, Python, or similar.

• Familiarity with hardware testing and debugging using tools like oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and JTAG.

• Prior experience in leading testing efforts for complex embedded systems.

• Must be a US citizen or permanent resident. We cannot provide sponsorship for this position.

Preferred:

• Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing automated testing solutions and frameworks.

SALARY RANGE: $65,000 - $80,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience,knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with marketdata.) This position includes a competitive benefits package. The posted salary range reflectsthe target compensation for this role.
