RTX, based at the Fullerton, CA campus, is seeking an on-site software engineer to work on real-time embedded radar software. The role emphasizes C/C++ development, OO design, debugging, and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams to ensure timely, high-quality software deliverables.

The position requires strong troubleshooting skills, university-level STEM education, and experience in a team-driven SDLC, CI/CD, and Linux environments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in STEM from an accredited institution; degree must be obtained by start date.
  • Experience developing, testing or debugging software in C, C++, or similar OO language.
  • Strong OO design knowledge and real-time embedded software development experience.
  • Hands-on troubleshooting and problem-solving experience.
  • Experience developing software in a team-based environment with strong teamwork and communication.

Responsibilities

  • Work on complex technical problems and collaborate to provide innovative solutions.
  • Requires investigation and troubleshooting skills to assess issues and develop resolutions.
  • Work at all phases of the SW development lifecycle, including SW/HW integration, dependent on program phase
  • Assist in the derivation of system and software requirements, architectural modeling, and technical analysis
  • Design, code, unit test, integrate, and document real-time embedded software solutions with a focus on Raytheon’s Radar Digital Product Line (RDPL)
  • Participate actively in software peer reviews, code inspections, and technical decision-making alongside multidisciplinary teams, including program leadership and customers
  • Support program execution to ensure work products meet technical, cost, schedule, and quality baselines.
  • Follow established software development processes and practices to maintain software product integrity.

Work Location: Onsite at our Fullerton, CA Campus This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance. Except in rare circumstances, only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited institution. Degree must be obtained by start date.
  • Experience developing, and testing or debugging software using C, C++, or similar object-oriented programming language
  • Strong Object-Oriented Design knowledge and real time embedded software development experience
  • Strong hands-on troubleshooting and problem-solving experience
  • Experience developing software in a team-based development environment with strong teamwork and communication skills. Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.
Qualifications We Prefer:
  • Knowledge of Software Development Processes and experience participating in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including requirements, design, implementation, and testing
  • Experience working with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines and automated build environments.
  • Familiarity with Scrum/Agile, DevSecOps, Git/GitLab
  • Experience with Linux development environments
  • Hands‑on experience with scripting languages (Python, Perl, Bash) for automation and testing.
  • Strong grasp of data structures, algorithms, and system software design.
  • Exposure to radar systems, Digital Signal Processing (DSP), or real-time embedded software.

Relocation Eligible

Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite.

The salary range for this role is 62,900 USD - 119,700 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
