Job summary

Lam Research in Tualatin, OR is seeking a Software Engineer Sys 4 to design, develop, troubleshoot and optimize software for our central software engineering team supporting the etch and deposition products.

The role emphasizes collaboration with hardware and software teams, mentoring junior engineers, and occasional customer site visits up to 10% travel; a strong background in OO programming and embedded systems is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering with 8+ years of experience; or Master’s with 6+ years; or PhD with 3+ years; or equivalent experience.
• Strong knowledge of object-oriented programming and design, including patterns and state machines.
• Experience with multithreading and embedded communication protocols (I2C, SPI, UART).

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, troubleshoot, and debug software for enhancements and new products.
• Implement new customer requirements and features in existing applications.
• Maintain and improve code by diagnosing and fixing issues.
• Document solutions clearly with code and diagrams.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design software.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring for junior engineers.
• Travel to customer sites as needed (less than 10%).
