Job summary

Viasat is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer within Secure Network Systems for Viasat Government to contribute to encrypted communications systems and inline network encryptors. You will work with embedded cryptographic devices, interface with system, test, and hardware engineers, and participate in an agile environment.

The role requires C/C++/Rust expertise, Linux in embedded contexts, TCP/IP knowledge, and the ability to travel up to 10%. Citizenship and U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• 0–3 years of full-time, relevant industry experience.
• U.S. Citizenship with an active SECRET or TOP SECRET clearance.
• Embedded software design/implementation in C/C++ or Rust.
• Linux OS use for embedded environments; TCP/IP familiarity.
• Agile Scrum development; CI/CD practices; progress tracking.
• Good oral and written communication; travel up to 10%.

What you’ll do

This is a role for an Embedded Software Engineer within Secure Network Systems (SNS) - Viasat Government who is eager to contribute to a small, fast-paced team. You will develop software to support encrypted communications systems including Layer 2 and Layer 3 In-line Network Encryptors, embedded cryptographic devices, and emerging cryptographic solutions. You will interface and collaborate with system, test, and hardware engineers as new capabilities are developed and transitioned into service.

Additional Details:

• This position is site-based. You will work 5 days per week from the Viasat office. Relocation assistance is available pending eligibility.

Salary range

$95,000.00 - $150,000.00 / annually. For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $118,000.00- $177,000.00/ annually
