Job summary

Katalyst CRO in Rockford, IL seeks a software engineer for safety-critical avionics software under DO-178C DAL A. You will capture and analyze software requirements, design architectures, update code, and produce the required lifecycle documentation.

Work with Ethernet, SPI, RS-485, CAN, and I2C protocols; perform FPGA-related debugging, and use DOORS, Git, MATLAB, Vitis, and Lauterbach Trace32 to verify traces and compliance.

Qualifications

• Experience implementing DO-178C-compliant software lifecycle processes.
• Ability to capture and analyze software requirements.
• Experience in software architecture and design for safety-critical systems.
• Updating source code to meet DO-178C DAL A requirements.
• Knowledge of DAL A documentation artifacts.
• Experience with safety-critical communication protocols such as Ethernet, SPI, RS-485, CAN, and I2C.
• Strong test scripting and test procedures expertise.
• Proven hardware and software debugging skills, especially with FPGA and embedded targets.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain DO-178C compliant software lifecycle artifacts.
• Analyze requirements and translate into designs and tests.
• Lead SDLC reviews and ensure DAL A documentation completeness.
• Perform protocol-level hardware/software debugging and verification.
• Utilize DOORS, Git, and MATLAB tools to manage traces and reports.
