Job summary

Benshaw, Inc. is seeking a seasoned real-time embedded software engineer to design and analyze software for motor control and monitoring products. Responsibilities include firmware development for microcontroller-based systems and producing thorough documentation.

You will collaborate with hardware and power-electronic engineers to ensure robust, integrated software solutions. The role requires a strong C background, familiarity with assembly and higher-level languages, and experience with ARM

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering with 5–7 years real-time embedded software design experience.
• Strong C programming skills; familiarity with assembly, C#, and Visual Basic; ARM and DSP experience desired.
• Good understanding of hardware.
• Familiarity with industrial networking and Ethernet TCP/IP a plus.
• Excellent communication, time management, multitasking and planning skills.
• Familiarity with embedded real time operating systems and cybersecurity applications are a plus.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to support internal and external collaboration.
• Detail oriented, independent self-starter.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.

Position Location: Benshaw, 615 Alpha Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15238 (Not eligible for relocation assistance)

Primary Responsibilities:

• Perform functional and empirical analysis and design of software systems for Benshaw products.
• Provide full documentation of software designs.

Position Skill and Education Requirements:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related field with at least 5-7 years of real-time embedded software design experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong C programming skills; familiarity with assembly, C#, and Visual Basic. Experience with ARM and DSP processors desired.
• A good understanding of hardware
