Position: System Safety Engineer

Location: Fort Worth, TX (Onsite)

Job Description

• Experience with software safety standards and requirements across the full development lifecycle, including hazard identification, development, and system/software qualification testing (e.g., DO-178C, MIL-STD-882, SAE ARP-4761, ARP-4754, and the Joint Software Safety Engineering Handbook).
• Proven analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work with cross-functional teams to resolve complex, highly integrated system problems.
• Familiarity with civil safety processes (SAE ARP-4761, ARP-4754) and defense safety processes (MIL-STD-882).
• Direct experience in SAE ARP-4761 analyses such as Aircraft and System Functional Hazard Assessments (AFHA/SFHAs), System Safety Assessments (PASA, PSSA, ASA, SSA), Zonal Safety Analysis (ZSA), and Common Mode Analysis (CMA).
• Experience with MIL-STD-882 analyses including Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA), Operational & Support Hazard Analysis (O&SHA), Health Hazard Analysis (HHA), System/Subsystem Hazard Analysis (SHA/SSHA), FMECA, and Safety Assessment Reports (SAR).
• Experience or training in model-based systems engineering (MBSE) and model-based safety analysis (MBSA) is desirable.
• Excellent communication skills to build and maintain relationships with customers and internal teams, and to brief leadership and clients.
• Technical understanding of aircraft and aircraft systems, with operational knowledge being highly desirable.

Qualifications for Success

• At least 2 years of experience in aircraft or system development/sustainment programs utilizing structured safety processes.
• Bachelor’s degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math). Related military qualifications or advanced degrees are considered relevant or advantageous.
• Eligibility to obtain Secret Security Clearance is required.
