Job summary

Stellar Technology, LLC in Houston seeks a System Safety Engineer to lead hazard analyses across flight systems and develop safety assessments. You will create hazard reports and help define control strategies, including FD/IR, mitigation, and safety requirements.

You will collaborate with V&V teams, participate in safety review panels, and deliver S&MA presentations to program leadership while applying agile project management throughout the lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of experience in hazard analyses and safety assessments.
• Experience developing and reviewing hazard analyses, fault trees, and safety assessments.
• Analysing flight systems to identify hazards and propose mitigations.

Responsibilities

• Conduct system level hazard analysis.
• Conduct safety analyses and document results (PHAs, SHA, Hazard Tracking, FHA, FTA, Safety Assessments).
• Generate Hazard Reports.
• Define and maintain system level control strategies including FDIR, hazardous mitigation.
• Support Safety Review Panels and meetings.
• Coordinate with V&V to test safety-critical requirements.
• Perform anomaly and nonconformance analysis and verification.
• Develop S&MA reports/presentations for leadership.
• Provide support to all programs as required.
• Communicate project progress and risks to stakeholders.
• Apply agile project management throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Conducting system level hazard analysis
• Conducting Safety Analyses and documenting results (Preliminary Hazards Analysis, System Hazard Analysis, Hazard Tracking, Functional Hazard, Fault Tree, and Safety Assessments)
• Generation of Hazard Reports
• Assist with the definition and maintenance of system level control strategies, including Fault Detection, Isolation and Recovery (FDIR) strategies, hazardous mitigation, and system
• Participate in and support the System Safety Working Groups, Safety Review Panels, Technical Interchange and Change Review Board meetings
• Coordinating with verification and validation (V&V) personnel to ensure safety-critical requirements are tested at an acceptable level of rigor
• Perform anomaly and nonconformance analysis, tracking and resolution verification
• Develop S&MA reports/presentations to S&MA and program leadership
• Provide support to all Axiom programs as required
• Other duties as assigned
• Communicating project progress, status, and potential issues to stakeholders and leadership
• Implementing and maintaining agile project management methodologies throughout the project lifecycle
• Perform additional job duties as assigned

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree, 2+ years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Experience developing and reviewing hazard analyses, fault trees, and safety assessments
• Analyzing and evaluating flight systems to identify hazards and propose actions to mitigate hazards
• Planning, performing analyses, and reporting results
