Job summary

Foundation is seeking a highly technical Electrical Engineer to join its San Francisco team. You will design embedded systems and mixed-signal circuits, integrating sensors, motors, and power electronics for high-reliability robotics hardware.

You will collaborate with silicon partners, perform board bring-up, validation, and debugging, and guide junior engineers to ensure manufacturability and EMC compliance.

Qualifications

• Experience with sensor integration (IMUs, force/tactile, encoders) and motor control in compact, high-reliability systems.
• Proficiency in embedded C/C++ and firmware interactions for hardware-software integration.
• Strong debugging skills with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and JTAG tools.

Responsibilities

• Design and evaluate embedded systems and mixed-signal circuits (MCUs, FPGAs, sensors, power, communications).
• Collaborate with silicon partners to evaluate and integrate cutting-edge chips (e.g. encoders, IMUs, tactile sensors).
• Perform board bring-up, validation, and debugging using lab instruments and test infrastructure.
• Guide junior engineers and review schematic/layout work to ensure performance and reliability.
• Drive DFM/DFT and EMC improvements across designs.
• Interface with firmware/software engineers to define board-level APIs and hardware abstraction.
• Support the transition from prototypes to production with contract manufacturers and test engineers.
