Job summary

Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) is seeking motivated engineering interns for the summer to dive into reverse engineering, exploit development, and embedded systems. You will be mentored by world-class experts and work on real problems that involve complex hardware and software challenges.

As part of the team, you will investigate software, firmware, and hardware, collaborate to develop exploits, and gain experience presenting technical findings.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Excellent academic record with knowledge of core topics such as computer architecture, operating systems, and data structures.
  • Skilled with one or more programming languages.
  • Love solving puzzles and persevere through technical challenges.
  • Willingness to learn new tools, platforms, and languages.
  • Eligible to obtain Interim Top Secret clearance by start date; eligible for TS/SCI with polygraph; U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

  • Be mentored by top experts to learn reverse engineering.
  • Perform deep investigation of software, firmware, and hardware.
  • Collaborate with teammates to develop exploits against embedded systems.
  • Gain experience giving technical presentations.
