Job summary

Impulse Space is seeking an Embedded Linux Software Engineer to develop and maintain the foundational software stack powering our avionics platforms. You will work on embedded Linux, kernel drivers, and platform engineering to ensure secure, reliable systems.

Responsibilities include Yocto-based Linux distribution development, board bring-up, driver development, and robust OTA/update mechanisms with security hardening. A strong background in C/C++ and real-time constraints is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in a technical field.
• Experience building Yocto-based embedded Linux distributions for custom boards.
• Experience developing and debugging Linux kernel drivers.
• C/C++ development in constrained, low-level environments.

Responsibilities

• Build, configure, and maintain a Yocto-based Linux distribution for avionics hardware.
• Perform board bring-up and hardware integration across CPU, memory, and peripherals.
• Develop, port, and maintain Linux device drivers for sensors, buses, and memory devices.
• Implement secure boot, code signing, OTA updates, and system hardening.
