Job summary

Collins Aerospace in Cedar Rapids, IA is seeking a Software Engineer II to help design, develop, and maintain embedded Linux software systems for mission-critical environments. You will work with FPGA, hardware, and systems teams to integrate software with hardware across multiple platforms. The role requires a STEM degree with 2+ years of experience or an advanced degree, and the ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret clearance.

U.S. citizenship is required for clearance eligibility.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a STEM degree and 2+ years of experience or an advanced degree
• Experience in embedded Linux software development or support
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance
• U.S. citizenship required for clearance eligibility
• Proficiency with Linux command-line tools
• Experience with embedded C/C++ applications and scripting (Python/Bash)

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and enhance embedded Linux OS ecosystem including build toolchain, kernel, root filesystem, bootloader, drivers, and BSP
• Contribute to design, coding, testing, delivery and support for embedded Linux systems
• Participate in root cause analysis and debugging of hardware-software issues
• Prepare software builds for simulation, reference platforms, and target hardware
• Adhere to Collins Aerospace processes to improve product quality and customer satisfaction
• Contribute to task estimates for change requests or problem reports
