Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a hands-on Quality Engineer to support a lab environment by testing embedded firmware on real hardware and building automation to improve test coverage and release efficiency.

You will flash devices, document test results, reproduce field issues in the lab, and contribute to CI/CD by turning manual tests into Python-based automated tests while collaborating closely with firmware and hardware teams to boost product reliability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
• 1+ year of hardware testing, firmware, or embedded systems experience.
• Basic Python programming skills and comfort using the Linux command line.
• Hands-on hardware experience with multimeters, USB, and serial interfaces.

Responsibilities

• Test firmware on physical hardware by flashing devices, running plans, and recording pass/fail results.
• Perform failure and edge-case testing by power interrupts, connectivity disruption, and interface stress.
• Reproduce field failures in the lab, capture logs, and create detailed bug reports for firmware teams.
• Convert recurring manual tests into Python-based automated tests for CI/CD pipelines.
• Build and maintain test environments, including devices, power controls, serial connections, and hosts.
• Learn GPS, cellular, Bluetooth/BLE, Wi‑Fi, and CAN to distinguish firmware from hardware issues.
• Maintain test plans, coverage docs, and results to provide visibility into product quality.
• Collaborate with firmware, hardware, and test engineers to improve testing processes.
