Job summary

Karman is seeking an Embedded Firmware Engineer to develop production-grade firmware for power grid edge devices. You will work across hardware, cloud infrastructure, and AI/algorithms to design and deploy embedded software on diverse hardware variants.

The role emphasizes hands-on C/C++ development with RTOS on microcontrollers, building logging, diagnostics, and CI/CD tooling, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable firmware.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• 0–3 years embedded firmware experience, internships or coursework count.
• Proficiency in C/C++ with RTOS or bare-metal on microcontrollers.
• Familiarity with SPI, I2C, UART or Ethernet interfaces.
• Hands-on hardware experience and debugging skills.
• Experience with Git and CI/CD familiarity (GitHub Actions or similar).
• Python scripting for test harnesses, build tooling or automation.
• Strong communication and collaborative skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and deploy firmware features across multiple hardware platforms.
• Assist with hardware bring-up and collaboration with hardware teams.
• Write and debug real-time embedded software in C/C++ on microcontrollers.
• Implement and debug communication protocols (SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, Ethernet, LTE, WiFi) for IoT connectivity.
• Uphold firmware engineering standards, including coding conventions and documentation.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, HIL test infrastructure, and automated release tooling using Python, Docker, and GitHub Actions.
• Extend logging, telemetry, and diagnostic subsystems.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with external contractors, cloud infra, AI/algorithms, and product teams.
