CAEtech is seeking an experienced Embedded Firmware Engineer for a full-time contract position with benefits and potential for permanent conversion. You will develop embedded software for power electronics and Battery Management System (BMS) products, with C/C++ on STM32 and TI C2000 platforms, under FreeRTOS/Zephyr RTOS.

The role involves design, validation, testing, and cross-functional collaboration with hardware and systems teams.

Qualificações

CAEtech is seeking an experienced Embedded Firmware Engineer for a full-time contract position with benefits and potential for permanent conversion, supporting the development of embedded software and firmware for power electronics and Battery Management System (BMS) products.

The engineer will support the design, development, implementation, testing and validation of embedded firmware for power conversion and battery management systems. The role requires strong C/C++ embedded development experience, hands‑on experience with microcontrollers and digital signal processors, and familiarity with real‑time operating systems.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop embedded software and firmware using C and C++.
• Develop firmware for microcontrollers and digital signal processors, including STM32 microcontrollers and TI C2000 DSPs.
• Work with real-time operating system environments and architectures, including FreeRTOS and Zephyr RTOS.
• Perform firmware testing, debugging and troubleshooting using development and debugging tools, simulators and applicable test environments.
• Use oscilloscopes, signal analyzers and related laboratory equipment to support firmware development, testing and validation.
• Read and understand high-level electrical schematics to support hardware/software integration and troubleshooting.
• Support model-based design methodologies, including simulation, modeling and automatic code generation, as part of the New Product Introduction (NPI) process.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers, systems engineers and other cross-functional teams to develop integrated power electronics and BMS solutions.
• Create technical documentation including specifications, design documents, test plans and Design Verification Test (DVT) reports.

Skills Required

• Strong embedded C and C++ programming skills.
• Strong understanding of embedded firmware development.
• Familiarity with real-time operating system development environments and architecture.
• Hands‑on experience with microcontrollers.
• Ability to read and understand high‑level electrical schematics.
• Hands‑on experience using oscilloscopes, signal analyzers and related test equipment.
• Experience with embedded firmware testing, debugging and troubleshooting.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Skills Preferred

• Hands‑on experience with STM32 microcontrollers.
• Experience with digital signal processors such as TI C2000.
• Experience with FreeRTOS and Zephyr RTOS.
• Experience with model-based design, simulation, modeling or automatic code‑generation methodologies.
• Experience developing embedded systems for power electronics, power conversion or Battery Management System applications.

Education Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related field.

Experience Required

• Minimum 4 years of industry experience in embedded firmware/software development.
• Minimum 4 years of experience involving C/C++ embedded development, real-time operating systems and microcontrollers.

Experience Preferred

• Embedded firmware development experience involving power electronics, power conversion or Battery Management Systems.
• Experience with STM32 microcontrollers and TI C2000 digital signal processors.
• Experience with FreeRTOS and Zephyr RTOS environments.
