Job summary

Skydio in San Mateo, CA is seeking Embedded Software Engineering Interns for Summer 2027. You will help define and develop embedded firmware powering drones and accessories, bridging algorithms with sensors and hardware.

Ideal candidates are juniors/seniors or MS students with experience writing device-level firmware in C++. Python is used for testing; familiarity with bare-metal/RTOS microcontrollers (STM32) and embedded Linux is a plus.

Qualifications

• Practical experience writing firmware/embedded code for a physical device.
• C++ in embedded systems proficiency and hands-on hardware interaction.
• Python used for testing, experimentation, and tools development.
• Ability to read schematics and use debugging equipment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement embedded software for the drone and accessory product lines.
• Characterize, integrate, and validate subsystems such as cameras and radios.
• Bring up and debug new hardware during development.
• Write interfaces and drivers for sensors, cameras, and devices.
